On Sunday President Trump posted a map of New Mexico labeled “New America” following the spread of a since-debunked online hoax claiming he had signed an executive order renaming the state.
Later in the day, Trump posted a comment on the photo.
“So much more prestigious and beautiful for the people of that potentially incredible State. Wow, I Love It!!!”
After a day and night of partisan backlash, the President took to social media again to announce another state name he intended to change.
“It just came to my attention that one of our states is named after a very bad country wedged right in between Europe, Russia and the Middle East,” he advised, “which, as you all know, is the Axis of Evil.”
Trump plans to enact an Executive Order this week to change both the name of New Mexico and the other state in question.
“The name New Florida will finally reflect the wonderful American spirit of the people that live there,“ Trump continued, “although all of the current residents of the state will be stripped of their U.S. citizenship and airlifted to the country of Georgia, because they were all willing participants in this deception for the last 238 years.”
The President plans to begin auctioning off vacated New Florida homes at “very friendly and agreeable prices” to registered Republicans in October.
