Did you know that the researcher pictured in the Did You Know articles is none other than Dr. Claude D’Juneau, France’s leading epidemiologist from 1983 to 1984 and current over-50 intermural pickleball champion at Sorbonne University in Paris?
Dr. D’Juneau has spent a lifetime investigating the secrets of the universe, but regularly takes time to keep the world abreast of his findings right here on the Loser News Network. He recently had a chance to sit down with us and discuss his current research projects and give us a little glimpse into his personal life.
“Interestingly enough, I started my research career as a test subject for an experimental drug called venlaxafine,” he related. “Those of us who survived the trial were offered scolarships if we signed a waiver not to sue the university…and got rid of the bodies.”
Claude, then 19, opted to pursue his growing interest in science, enrolling at Sorbonne University, where he still works today.
“I decided to major in Biology,” he explains, “with a minor in Albino Aquatic Quadruped Studies, which was a short lived program.”
Once he’d earned his Bachelor’s Degree, he knew medicine was the next logical step for his future.
“That’s where the money is,” D’Juneau affirms. “Plus, you get to hang out with nurses, golf, and get free dinners from pharmaceutical reps.”
But then he found out about research grants.
“Yeah, I was getting pretty tired of trying to cure people of all their crap?” he recalls. “Then one of the pharmaceutical companies called and told me I could make tons of money just by saying their drugs work, and I was like, ‘Where do I sign?’”
This gave Dr. D’Juneau the time, resources, and freedom to explore whatever scientific question came to his mind.
“I’ve ok’d about 4,000 drugs for the market in the U.S.,” D’Juneau reports. “But right now, I spend most of time on the internet, trying to figure out how to get AI to tie my shoes. Once I get that figured out, I’ll probably figure out how streaming works.”
