For those of you who don’t know, TGIF means Thank God It’s Friday. Being a father of two teens, I’m pretty hip to all the kids’ acronyms, so I thought I’d likewise hip you square daddy-o’s and mommy-a’s to the language of teens:
LOL – Laugh Out Loud. Used to express something that is so funny you literally laugh…out loud.
BFF – Best Friends Forever. Used to indicate that special someone. My BFF is Ryan Seacrest.
BRB – Bring Ribs Back. It’s how you tell someone that you are hungry.
WTF – Where’s the fire? My kids are always asking me this, and I’m like, “I don’t know! Call the fire department!”
OMG – That’s Really Surprising. Yeah, the letters don’t match on this one. Wierd.
JK – Jack Klugman. Pays homage to TV’s Quincy, M.E.
So there you have it. Now you can stop being a wall flower in those new fangled chat rooms, or “text” the kids in school on a new high-tech cellular (pronounced “sell-you-ler”) telephone. Enjoy.
